Attendance Policy

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL SCHEDULED REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES THEIR ENSEMBLE IS INVOLVED IN.  Unexcused absences will result in a grade cut.

I work diligently to coordinate our schedule with the consideration of other school and athletic events.  Occasionally conflicts arise and we try to work around it as long as prior notice is given.

Requests for excused absences from rehearsals or performances must be turned in to Mr.Fleck in writing at least 24 hours prior to the absesce.  Although we do understand that emergency situations do arise, they should be rare cases and the more notice I am given, the better we can plan.  Normally, and excused absence from school counts as an excused absense from performance or rehearsal.

If an absense is deemed excused, the grade that would have been given for attendance at that event must be made up.  I will offer the make-up work on a case by case basis, and will assign work that in some way represents what was missed.

"NOT HAVING A RIDE" IS NOT AN EXCUSED ABSENCE.  We have plenty of students in the department and finding a ride is usually not a problem if we are given enough notice.  Please contact Mr. Fleck ASAP so arrangments can be made.

A note about TEAM:  The performance arts are a team sport.  Just as an athlete missing from a game, meet or practice effects the performance of the whole team, so too an actor or singer missing from a rehearsal or performance effects the whole ensemble.

STUDENTS MUST STAY FOR THE ENTIRE PERFORMANCE OR REHEARSAL TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT.  Professional ettiquette and behavior expectations dictate that parent and students alike should support all of the ensembles in a performance.
